Veteran Boost: an account approach to help with character based reputation titles
This idea is not about making the six character based reputation lines account based! Please keep such ideas in other threads.
In GW2 we will have higher or even no level caps, making character development possible for longer time. But to give lower level characters a chance to play more advanced content with higher lever friends, there will be a sidekick system to let the lower levels have temporarily boost to their stats and to let them catch up faster to their friend's level.
Currently in GW1 PvE we have reputation titles which act like higher levels. A main character played through the complete content (all missions/dungeons/vanquishes in NM&HM) only needs a little more grind to max those titles. Lesser played secondary characters unfortunately will be stuck at lower ranks, because they aren't supposed to be played through all content and with less efficient ranked pve-skills they will be even more disadvantaged and less often played.
My idea is about giving secondary characters a little easier obtainable pve ranks by giving them a boost, after you have maxed out your main characters (similar to a sidekick system). This needs to be done without cheapening the achievements accomplished on the primary characters.
Veteran Boost System:
-add a counter for every reputation title
-for each character a player has maxed that title line on add 1 point to it
-add those points (double for HM) alongside the bounties for not maxed characters (with alongside i mean not affected by hunt rampage or similar effects)
implementation:
-the mechanism to add 1 to the KoaBD line already exists, this new counter would be right next to it
-adding the points when the bounties are activated shouldn't be much to program
-data needed account wide: 6bytes
result:
Secondary characters will just be a little faster gaining in the reputation ranks. In EotN books will still be the fastest way to get points.
The work needed to max the titles on a primary character won't be changed!
To prevent this system getting abused the boost points can be capped to something like 5 (10 in HM) (although i don't think anybody would max those titles on more than a handful of characters).
problem:
Players with a large variety of primary characters most likely won't get a boost, since they don't max the titles on any of their characters.
variation1:
-split the counter into max rank achieved for the normal mode part of the title and the hard mode part
-add the normal mode points to the normal mode boost and the hard mode points to the hard mode boost
implemenation:
-if the boost is capped to a number below 15, nm & hm counters can share a byte thus data needed account wide will remain 6bytes
-beside the counter to get raised simultaneouly to the KoaBD counter, the increase for the normal mode counter must be implemented in other parts of the code
result:
-players who play a broader range of characters don't need to concentrate to max the titles on main characters first and will get a boost for normal mode
-the achievement to get the first max nm/hm rank won't be cheapened
problem:
-Lightbringer doesn't have such a cut off point for normal mode
-a little more complicated to implement
variation2:
-instead of additional boost points alongside the current bounty system, just use them to raise current bounty rank upgrades in EotN (e.g. start with hunt rank 2 after talking to the shrine person)
result:
-a boost for secondary characters which is affected by effects like rampage
-hard cap at 4 seems to be a little low, but secondary characters will get the other bounty effects (rampage, boss kill, etc.) more often
-easy to implement, since the mechanic for the hunt rank is already in existence
problem:
- Sunspear & Lightbringer title bounties don't have such hunt ranks

I think you've got a decent idea. It keeps in mind the more casual player who maybe doesn't play as often. It's well thought out.

So, basically another change the game so there is Less grind the more characters you own.
I agree with it, an any other suggestion that makes less grind for more characters possible and any other that removes the 'regret' part of titles.
The best part of GW is that is a game with much less regrets than others.
No need to re-roll, no need to delete characters, no problem if you fail a quest or a mission...
The only problem now are the no-retry titles and the additional regret related to having to stick to one character to get titles maxed.

Titles made easier (freely) for you just because you finished the title only.
(i.e) because u made a legendary survivor your next char only needs 1.2 million exp for title, or he gains 10% more per kill.
Once you max out a rep points title. Your should be able to buy rep point scrolls from consumable vendors. Scrolls that are dedicated for use only on your account.

Works pretty nicely to me. I might like to see this implemented, even though I'm never really planning on doing a second character with all the grind titles.

A nice idea though I can't see myself bothering with titles after I've maxed my main.
